Greg Churilov was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the son of Russian inmigrants who had fled Stalin's Russia during WW2. Greg's grandfather Nicholas P. Churilov -a Bible Scholar and translator who was twice held in internal exhile in the USSR- mentored Greg in Bible studies and greatly influenced his worldview as a youth.
Greg's youth was spent in an Argentina ruled by a military dictatorship, and witnessing both the steel yoke and the clay feet of this tyranny also left a mark in Greg's mind and heart.
Relocating with his family to the U.S., Greg found his career path in marketing, working for a large publisher during a book release, managing the marketing campaign for a manufacturer, influencing the corporate image of a large financial services company and a Fortune 300 utilities corporation.
Greg's unique bicultural background allowed him to pursue as well a second career as a translator. In 2003, Greg and his wife Jen founded Effective Translations, a translations subcontracting company specializing in Spanish and Portuguese. The company has been expanding rapidly, doubling its size in 2004 and again in 2005. Focusing on quality and service, Effective Translations clearly found a niche in the language-service provider market. It is this venture that brought Greg once again -this time along with Jen and their son Evan- to Buenos Aires, where they currently live.
Volunteerism has been passionate interest in Greg's life. As a disaster-relief volunteer he has served in the aftermath of the Northridge earthquake, the Los Angeles riots, in New York City in September 2001, and most recently in Banda Aceh, Indonesia helping tsunami survivors for two weeks.
An active Scientologist, Greg uses Scientology principles to improve his day-to-day life and, whenever possible, to help his fellow Man.
Greg's more mundane interests include sailing and scuba diving, hiking and reading historical novels.
